Formentera

Formentera

Formentera is one of the smallest of the Balearic islands. It has an area of 83km2 and a population of around 9200 people. It is almost four miles from Ibiza and 100km from Jávea in Alicante, which is the closest point of the Iberian Peninsula. Its coastline stretches for 69km, where you can find attractive cliffs and beaches. This island is virtually flat except for the cliffs of La Mola, with a highest point of 192m. The climate is mild and the average temperature is around 19ºC, with nearly 2900 hours of sunshine per year.

Formentera is known as the last paradise of the Mediterranean for its ability to combine tourism with environmental protection. It has struggled for several generations to conserve the island's beaches, clear waters and climate. You can only travel by ferry from Ibiza to Formentera. It does not have an airport, therefore holidays to Formentera require passing through Ibiza first. This makes it a quiet place to escape stress and overcrowding. Once on the island, you can use their car hire services to explore the island.

Formentera is a postcard. In just a few square kilometres it has all the ingredients to be considered a paradise. Its beaches of shimmering sand contrast with the transparent waters, home to the highly prized posidonia. You can explore the island on foot, by bicycle or motorbike, in search of secret corners and beautiful spots to lose yourself in. Its lighthouses are an icon of the purest Mediterranean, its landscapes the best images to remember. Hippy markets and megalithic monuments blend together on an island that, although small, will not leave you indifferent!
